What to expect from the club, and what the club expects from you
GENERAL
The club's aim is to provide players with the opportunities to play cricket with like minded people, with enjoyment, and in the style and quality that is wanted and expected. The club will ensure that players are managed fairly, but always in the best interests of the club. The following explains in brief how we do this.
MANAGEMENT
- Players making themselves available for League matches on Saturdays are understood to do so on the basis of playing for the Club; there is no right to play for a specific team. The Club Captain is responsible for selecting, in conjunction with the captains, teams for 1st and 2nd XI matches and retains the right of a final decision when required. This will be done in accordance with the selection policy and team objectives. The Club Captains decision is final.
- If any player who wishes to play on a Saturday cannot be found a place, every effort will be made to give him or her a game on the Sunday of that weekend, should they wish it.
- Team captains are ultimately responsible for who takes the field with them, and will work towards the proven and practical aim of achieving a core of players when available - whilst accepting of course that there will be movement between teams.
- Every effort will be made to publish teams for a weekend by the Wednesday before.
- The Club Captain will regularly review seasonal progress, institute any necessary changes to enhance playing performance, and make any recommendations to the Committee he considers necessary.
- Full details are contained within the Club’s selection policy.
PLAYER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be on time for matches, be reliable, don't call off at short notice.
- Pay subscriptions in good time and are mandatory in advance of playing league fixtures, and pay match fees immediately after a match (or before, if requested).
- Help the captain and vice captain with pre- and post-match administration.
- Be conscious that there are 10 other players in the team; treat them as you would expect to be treated.
- If at all possible wear Club clothing when representing it.
- On the field, observe the Spirit of Cricket meticulously.
