Under 11 Girls win skills challenge at the Utilita Bowl to brighten an otherwise sad day for the club

The U11 girls team got the great opportunity of taking on a Hampshire T20 Skills Challenge before the double header at the Utilita Bowl yesterday.
With the sad news coming from the Heath with the vandalism of the ground we were hoping the girls could provide some positive news for the club. On the sad news though, it was great to see and hear about all the fantastic support the club received from all its members in trying to repair the damage and shows the strong togetherness the club has, this will help see us through this.
The skills challenge consisted of 5 stations including 6 hitting, bowling, diving catches, high catches and hitting the stumps fielding before the final challenge of a bowl off where the aim was to hit your 6 stumps before the other teams. We were against 5 other clubs and we are proud to say the girls won the challenge and got to give the Guard of Honour for the Southern Vipers vs Western Storm game.
Although this was an U11s challenge the achievement was made even better as we had a bad injury to Hattie Houlton a week before the event and illness to Elouise Yarnley on the day of the event as 2 key players. It also shows our commitment to progressing girls of all ages as in the team on the day we had girls from school year 2 up to year 6 and all of them were excellent together.
The girls then stayed and watched both the ladies and mens games meaning a long day for all but a very proud one!
Congratulations go to the team on the day:

Thank you to the parents and supporters there on the day too for making it a special day for the girls.
